In light of the current regulatory environment and increasing pressures to improve operational efficiency, internal audit departments face a number of challenges with often competing priorities. ACL Services Ltd., in cooperation with The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA), conducted a global survey of internal audit executives to gain insight into these business challenges.

The primary objectives of the survey were to better understand and examine the following:

• Key challenges in supporting effective controls, compliance and governance processes
• Current and planned use of audit and compliance technology tools
• Level of organizations’ adoption or interest in implementing continuous auditing and continuous monitoring solutions
